- Mrs. Jessie M. Rockwell, 75, White Deer, died yesterday afternoon in the Evangelical Community Hospital, Lewisburg. She had been in ill health since August 1984 and was previously hospitalized several times during the past year. Since her hospitalization in April she had been a resident in the Kramm Nursing Home, Watsontown. Formerly of Brooklyn, N.Y., she moved to White Deer in 1976. Born March 18, 1910, in Island Cove, Trinity Bay, Newfoundland, she was a daughter of the late Simon and Maria Whelan Smith. She and her husband, Thomas R. Rockwell, celebrated their 47th wedding anniversary Wednesday. She retired in 1975 from the Roamwell Corp., in New York after 18 years of service. Mrs. Rockwell was a member of St. Andrew's Episcopal Church, Lewisburg. In addition to her husband, she is survived by one brother, Daniel Smith of Toronto, Canada; and one sister, Elsie Gilman of Brooklyn, N.Y. The funeral will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Monday in St. Andrew's Episcopal Church, Lewisburg, by the Rev. Paul C. Donecker. Burial will be in the Watsontown Cemetery.
