  The Random Guardian, November 1968 Passed peacefully away at her home in Caplin Cove on September 23 after a lingering illness, Emily Ann, wife of Ebenezer Whalen at the age of 62. A numerous amount of wreaths and sprays were carried into the church on the 25th of September for the funeral at Wesley United Church which was largely attended. The funeral service was the first from the church and was conducted by Rev. Morley Boutcher, Anglican priest of Random Mission. Mrs. Whalen leaves to mourn besides her husband, 3 sons Hedley, Stanley and Wm. of Caplin Cove; 3 daughters Ethel Mrs. Wm. Jacobs, Little Heart's Ease, Irene Mrs. Roy Critch, Hillview, and Marcella Mrs. Geo. Hillyard, St. Jones, 3 brothers Eli and Albert Drodge and Nicholas Vey, all of Little Hearts Ease, one sister Mrs. Mary Hussey, Port de Grave, now residing in Toronto, and 22 grandchildren.
