- Charles Ray Walker, 76, of Shamrock died Tuesday, May 31, 2005 in Wheeler, Texas. Services were held Friday, June 3. 2005 at 2:00 p.m. at Calvary Christian Fellowship in Shamrock, Texas with Bro. Joe G. Jernigan, pastor, officiating. Burial was in Shamrock Cemetery, Shamrock, Texas, under the direction of Wright Funeral Directors.
Charles Walker was born August 31, 1928, in Shamrock, Texas to John and Enna Wattenbarger Walker. Charles attended Shamrock High School and West Texas State College where he graduated with a teaching degree. He taught
English, History and Math in Crosbyton, Texas, He was a veteran of the Korean War, having served in the Air Force for four years. He was a member of the American Legion Post 68, having served three years as commander. Charles was a member of the First Baptist Church. He married Hilda Bursey on November 29, 1954 in Newfoundland, Canada. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Harvey.
Survivors include; his wife, Hilda Walker of Shamrock; two sons, Carl Walker and wife Debbie of Shamrock, John Walker and wife, Kelli of Shamrock; one daughter, Linda Bourland of Shamrock; 12 grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
