May 24, 1924 - July 30, 2004
Born in Hearts Content, Trinity Bay, CN Retired. Psalm 11 Verse 5: Precious in the sight of the Lord, is the death of His Saints. It is with great sadness that the family of the late Levi Smith (Smitty) announce his passing at the Palliative Care Unit, Western Memorial Regional Hospital on July 30, 2004. He will be sadly missed by his loving wife Kathleen (nee: Kay Penney) of 58 years; son Derek (Marie) Thornville, Ohio, two daughters: Maxine Piercey (Donald), St. John's, NL, Judy Trueman (James), Pickering, Ontario; twelve grandchildren: Janet (Cornel), Ontario, Brenda (Keith), Brian (Robin) Thornville, Ohio, Kimberly Denise, Ontario, Gerry (Debra-Lynn), Irishtown, Stanley, Debra, Richard, Donald, Dean, Mark and Michael, Ontario; fifteen great grandchildren: Rachael, Christy, Matthew, Becky, Ontario, Arielle, Augustina and Beth, Thornville, Ohio, Cameron and Kate-Lynn, Irishtown, Darrel, Ricky Eric, Kerry, Amber and Brittany, Ontario; two brothers: James (Sadie) Smith, Deer Lake, twin brother Moses Smith, Deer Lake; four sisters-in-law: Alma Mighton, Laura Lidstone, Geraldine (Tony) Bayner, Joan (Clifford) House, two brothers-in-law Herbert (Agnes) Penney, Ronald (Sadie) Penney; special nephew Willis (Wanda) Baker and a great number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his parents Isaac and Rose (nee: Breaker) Smith of Deer Lake; parents-in-law Herbert and Gertrude (nee: Lewis) Penney of Irishtown, sisters-in-law: Marjorie Flynn, Nellie Smith, brothers-in-law Richard Flynn, Arthur Mighton, Gilbert Lidstone. Friends may visit Fillatre's Funeral Home, 4 St. Mark's Avenue, Saturday from 7-9 p.m. and Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The funeral service will take place from All Saints Anglican Church, Clarence Street, Monday, August 2nd at 2:00 p.m. Bishop Leonard Whitton officiating. The interment will follow at Mt. Patricia Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy, flowers are graciously accepted or memorial donations may be made to All Saints Anglican Church Memorial Fund, 44 Clarence Street, Corner Brook, NL A2H 1K9.
