- Leah died on 25 June 1979 in Clarenville and was buried in the multidenominational cemetery next to the primary school on Pleasant Street, Clarenville. There was an In Memoriam for Leah in the paper:
Smith... In fond and loving memory of a dear wife, mother, mother-in-law and grandmother Leah Smith, June 25, 1979.
Though her smile is gone forever,
And her hand we cannot touch.
Still we have so many memories
Of the one we loved so much.
Her memory is out keepsake
With which we'll never part.
God has her in His keeping
We have her in our hearts.
Forever loved and sadly missed by Fred, Heber, Carmel, Leah and Andrew.
