| 3197 | Robert (Mick) Pelley was born in St. John’s at the Salvation Army Grace General Hospital. He grew up in Shoal Harbor until the age of 17, when he joined the Royal Canadian Air Force. After a brief period, he joined the Canadian National Railway performing the duties of a cable splicer. In the early 1960’s, he started working as a microwave technician with Canadian National Telecommunication (CNT) where he worked for 35 years. He married the love of his life, Ruby Ralph of Eastport in 1965. Together they had three (3) children; Elizabeth (Gary), Shannon (Andrea), and Barbara (Darren). Robert dearly loved his five (5) granddaughters; Victoria, Morgan, Olivia, Madeline, and Cassie. Robert leaves to mourn his wife, children, and grandchildren. Also mourning his death are his sister Margaret Dufort (Paul), sister in-law Sharon Parsons (Tony), and family of nieces and nephews. Robert is predeceased by his parents Frederick and Mary, his sisters Daphne (Andrew), Cassandra, and Elizabeth, and brothers Calvin (Mamie), Boyce, Thomas, Donald, and Harry (Joan). He had an amazing memory and told interesting stories, sometimes with a hint of exaggeration. Robert often had a joke to tell and some advice to offer. The simplest pleasures in life brought him great joy, namely visits from his grandchildren. His hobbies included woodworking, watching hockey, and formulating “unique fixs” for electronic devices. Robert will be missed dearly by his friends and family. A visitation and service will be held on Friday, February 17th at Stacey’s Funeral Home in Gander. The visitation will be open to the public from 1 PM to 3 PM with a service to follow. Donations may be made to the Kidney Foundation of Canada in Roberts memory. | Pelley, Robert Revere (I2)

| 3198 | Robert Freeman Budgell September 20, 1943 - September 10, 2010 Sgt. CAF, Retired It is with great sadness that the family of Robert Budgell (Bob), of Moreton's Harbour, announce his passing at the Central Newfoundland Regional Health Center, after a seventeen month battle with lung cancer, which he fought with courage, dignity and humor, to the very end. Born in Bishop's Falls, NL, Bob joined the Royal Newfoundland Regiment at the age of 16, and at 17, left to pursue a career in the Canadian Armed Forces. In 1960 he enrolled in the QOR ( Queen's Own Rifles) of Canada, and transferred to PPCLI (Princess Patricia's Canadian Light Infantry) in 1967. During the next 25 years, Bob's career took him to many parts of Canada, U.S.A., Europe, Asia, and the Middle East, with his final posting being attached to the RNR in Grand Falls-Windsor. Upon retirement from the CAF, Bob worked with the R.C.M.P. in Grand Falls-Windsor and was an avid volunteer in Community activities. He was the first "Commander" of the Red Cross Annual Fundraiser MASH, a member of the Grand Falls-Windsor Lions Club, Northcliff Drama Club, the Children's Wish Foundation and worked with special needs Children. In 1989, Bob began the move to Moreton's Harbour, building his retirement dream home, and enjoying his gardening, boating and ski-dooing. He also continued his volunteer service by organizing fund raisers for the Bridgeport and Area Kinsman Club, and also with the Newfoundland Club of Victoria, where he and Barbara resided for several winters. When Barbara retired in 1999, they travelled extensively throughout North America, driving across the U.S. eight times and spending the last 4 winters in Texas. Besides his outdoor activities, Bob loved gourmet cooking, hosting dinner parties, barbeques, and his usual "Friday evenings" with "music and friends." Bob is predeceased by parents Phoebe and Stewart; brothers Philip and Hedley; sister Rhoda; son Eric (at the age of 21); brother-in-law Cyril Pitcher; mother-in-law Marie Bennett. Left to celebrate his life with loving memories are wife Barbara (Bennett), daughter Roslyn (Thomas Heslop), grandchildren Liam and Phoebe Chang. Along with brothers Wally, Gerald (Beverly Lemoine) and Cyril; sisters Leona (Jack Skinner), Iris, Beulah, Doreen, Lynn (Ray Keating) and Paulette; sister-in-law June Budgell, and their families; father-in-law Ross Bennett, Barbara's siblings- Bill (Gladys), Tony (Brenda), Bonnie (Jamie Schwartz), Sherry Lee (Kerry Thorne) and their families. Also many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles and wonderful friends in Grand Falls-Windsor, Moreton's Harbour, Victoria, B.C., and just about every other place Bob visited, as he touched so many lives. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Mike Goodyear of Central Funeral Homes in Grand Falls-Windsor. As Bob wished, cremation has taken place. Flowers gratefully accepted or donations in his memory may be made to the Grand Falls-Windsor Cancer Clinic | Budgell, Robert Freeman (I3937)
