James Thomas Stoyles - known as Jim Tom - went to Northern Bight station in 1922. According to the Railway Museum, he entered into service with the railway on June 25, 1922. Jim Tom took over as station agent from Pat Dwyer.
Jim Tom and his family remained at Northern Bight until 1955, when the station closed. At that time he transferred to Goobies for the rest of his career.
Jim Tom was born in Hillview, the son of James Stoyles and Keziah Cooper. He married Annie Blanche Vey, daughter of William James Vey and Emma Jane Gosse. They had six children: '96 Lester, Leonie, Marguerite, Alfred, Lily, and Raymond. Their three youngest children were born at Northern Bight Station.
