- George Montgomery Hutchens Brinson, 58, passed away Sunday, January 24, 2016 in a medical facility surrounded by his family after a lengthy battle with lung, brain and spine cancer. He was born September , 1957 to Robert Laurie, Jr. and Sarah Elizabeth (nee Hutchens) Brinson in High Point, North Carolina.
A supermarket franchise heir, his paternal grandfather, George Elijah Hutchens was the founder of Food World, his mother was past president and secretary of Food World Inc., which merged with Harris Teeter; formed the production company Brinson-Richards Entertainment, which produced only one film, Escape, released in 1989; and then played a lot of poker. After he became a professional poker player, Kathy and Rick Hilton supported Monty in putting together the 2005 first annual Nicky Hilton's New Year's Eve Poker Tournament at Caesar's Palace in Las Vegas, Nevada.
On July 27, 1985, Monty and Kim were married at the Church of the Good Shepherd in Beverly Hills, California.
Monty Brinson was very active on social media in the months leading up to his death.
