Peacefully at Southlake Regional Health Centre, Newmarket, Ontario on Thursday, November 23, 2017 in her 95th year. Mary beloved wife of the late William Newell and the late Harold Mercer. Loving mother to Judy Richardson of Collingwood. Cherished Nan to Melanie, and great Nan to Evan and Emily. Also survived by her brothers Stuart and Keith Barfitt and their families. Friends may call at the Thompson Funeral Home, 530 Industrial Parkway South, Aurora on Tuesday, November 28 from 2-4 and 6-8 pm. A Funeral Service will be held at Trinity Anglican Church, 79 Victoria Street, Aurora on Wednesday, November 29 at 1:30 pm. Interment Aurora Cemetery. Barfetts mark golden wedding
Mr. and Mrs. Alfred John Barfett celebrated their golden wedding anniversary at a reception last weekend.
They were married on Dec.14, 1914, in the Anglican cathedral in St. John's, Nfld. and have lived in Toronto since 1950. Mrs. Barfett is the former Delsi Ada Vey of Long Beach, Nfld.
Mr. Barfett is a retired fisherman and carpenter and was a lay reader in the St. Mark's Anglican church in Long Beach for over 40 years. He now attends St. Mark's Anglican church.
They have eight children: Rita; Mrs. Warren (Drusilla) Astle, Montreal; Mrs. Norman (Netta) Duffett, St. John's; Mrs. William (Mary) Newell; Hector, St. John's; Stewart, Warren, and Keith. there are 15 grandchildren.
