| Description |
John Peddle came to Hodge’s Cove with his family in 1868. It was through John that his brother Caleb acquired the land that the Peddles came to occupy in Hodge’s Cove. He had been here a couple of years earlier and told Caleb about this property. Caleb in turn staked the property and shared it with John, The dividing line was the Lower Cove Brook, and the “Wood Path”, Caleb taking the westerly portion, and John the easterly portion. All this land has since become common property for all John’s and Caleb’s descendants.
John was also a fisherman. He was nicknamed “Pirate Jack”! |
